Echo: Black Lotus, Book 2, by E. K. Blair

The highly anticipated follow-up to Bang. Echo is the second book in the Black Lotus series.

It's been said the longest echo ever measured lasted 75 seconds, but I can assure you, this will last much longer.

The bang deafened the world around me, muting everything into nullity, allowing the reflection of its destruction to live far beyond its intended life. It will follow me forever, destroying me - destroying you.

You want answers? So do I.

Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only, as some scenes may be particularly disturbing.

How can you put down a book that is so brilliant and painful at the same time
By queenzany
I feel mentally challenged after BANG!!!
Can you say I think E.K. Blair is a bit twisted and feeds off of tormenting her readers?
Yes you are correct!! The Queen is still in her element when it comes to Echo.
We find out that Elizabeth does seem to have a heart. Plus we get to see more of the torment that has created Elizabeth into the person she is now. But be aware there are a s*** tons of secrets that come into play. I couldn't stop the tears at some points. How can you put down a book that is so brilliant and painful at the same time? Eco is a must read!!! You will not regret reading it till that nasty cliffhanger! Yes I have been begging and stalking E.K. Blair's FB for the release date of HUSH!!! I need the final book!!!!

Declan & Elizabeth
By Julie H
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - Not a five star rating because I enjoyed reading this book, just giving props to a series that knocks me off kilter again, & again, & again! The first book was so phenomenal because Nina had three men hanging by a string, leaving three dead in her wake, and I adored Declan so much that I didn't feel like I wanted to read book #2. Nina, now referred to as Elizabeth Archer, is saddled with grief but not because of her dead husband Bennett. Her heart was given to Declan & he still holds it in the palm of his hand. She even travels to Scotland to see the mansion she thought she might share with him someday. There is no way to politely say how messed up Elizabeth is after she has caused all of this death & destruction that brings her no happiness. No one can blame her for going mad after all that she's been through & now finding out about her birth mother is like the final stab in her heart. "Why am I so unlovable?" When Declan tries to figure out who Elizabeth really is she answers, "I'm nobody." That is how far she has fallen to the bottom. Declan doesn't help - he is sweet & shows signs of compassion but after someone walks away from you when you've been shot? "Do you have any idea what it's like to love the person you hate?" That my friends is the book in a nutshell. For Declan to mirror some of the abuse Elizabeth has experienced & then for Elizabeth to consent to it as her due punishment - these two are both insane & maybe they are perfect for each other. Elizabeth can't catch a break, after being forced to do unspeakable things to her foster father & Pike, now there is more of the same & Declan has some choices to make. "We're the reflection of each other's monsters." In the end Elizabeth has to figure out if she can continue to be with Declan. She loses him either way, by walking away or staying & watching their love die a painful death. As Nina she was a fighter with a backbone of steel, but as Elizabeth revealing all of the demons of her past she is completely at her lowest & weakest. Yep this book was incredibly hard to read!! It is violent & crazy & messed up when Declan and Elizabeth deserve one little ounce of peace & happiness to recover & regroup.

Buckle up
By Christina
Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This will likely be one of the shortest reviews I ever write, simply because there are too many variables that can spoil the entire story. Since you have very likely read Bang, you understand what I mean, considering the way it ended.

Bang was dark; I’m not sure I even have a word to describe what Echo is, because it is several shades darker than Bang. There is such an emotionally manipulative component to the entire story that makes it all the worse. Just when you think you have one thing figured out, there is a new twist that comes out of nowhere.

Fans of the first book will not be disappointed in this second installment in the least. The same gritty desperation is present and you will be uncomfortable at times. I personally had to step away from it for a day because it had gotten in my head and I needed to change direction to something a little lighter. This actually turned out to be a good thing because I was able to appreciate the darkness even more for what it is, essential to the story.

While Bang was a five star read for me, this one wasn’t quite there. It was definitely close, but the level of darkness was a bit much, so for me, it was a 4 . If Bang was too dark for you, you may want to reconsider; however, if you’re anything like me, you just had to know what comes next, no matter how uneasy it makes you feel. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this all is wrapped up. If the next book is anything like the first two, we’re bound to be put through the wringer.
