I think the conversation is important.
By Lynnae Brown
My comments are featured in it so I'm biased. But I think the conversation is important. If you work in non-profit, we need to start a revolution of what this field can be. Overworking and being underpaid is not virtue. Its dumb. And detrimental to our health. Its important to have a life filled with joy as we fight the good fight in non-profit. I've worked in mental health for over 6 years. I love what I do, but not what its done to me personally. This book has bolstered my new path..

Great Ideas to Promote Well-Being in the World of Nonprofits
By Laura Putnam
I love this book! Kanter and Sherman have skillfully applied best practices from the field of workplace wellness and talent development toward the rampant problem of burnout in the nonprofit world. Anyone who has worked in a mission-driven organization will surely recognize themselves as the authors aptly paint the picture of a burned out nonprofit professional. From here, the authors provide a roadmap to revitalize oneself through self-care, followed by a roadmap to revitalize the organization, dubbed “WE-care.” A great read and a fabulous resource packed with doable ideas that will help any nonprofit organization better meet its mission, and at the same time, enable its people to thrive.

Beth Kanter and Aliza Sherman have given the nonprofit sector a real gift!
By Pamela Grow
Beth Kanter and Aliza Sherman have given the nonprofit sector a real gift with The Happy, Healthy Nonprofit. Burnout in our industry is worn like a badge of honor - but it shouldn't be. How can you save the world if you don't take care of yourself? The authors' work mirrors my own findings: when an organization has a healthy culture, it thrives.
