Awesome collectible for a great movie.......

I didn't even know this thing existed, until I searched Amazon! It's basically a collection of photo prints from the classic movie. My favorites, are the multiple and beautiful, shots of the alien mothership. The prints are large and they're perfect for framing.

Nice bit of nostalgia. I was 9 when the movie originally came out.

This is a beautiful portfolio of prints. Some of which have photos taken from the film and the rest which are design concepts for posters. It also includes many photos of the alien mother ship in various lighted presentations. This is a must have for any fan of science fiction film and of Steven Speilberg's vision.

Its a good book, and I did well on the COMLEX ...

Its a good book, and I did well on the COMLEX as a result (630). But, the price was far too high for what you get. There's probably 30 pages stapled together. Make it $15, and I'd be good with it, especially granted the results.

Best OMM Guide for COMLEX

I'm a current OMS-IV and was one of the first group of students who had the privilege of using this guide to study. I used this guide for COMLEX Level I and II and can honestly say it is the perfect resource for OMM. It is well-organized, concise, and complete with all high-yield facts that are important for these exams. This was the only OMM resource I used when studying and it was everything I needed to be prepared. Numerous times during my exam, I would reference Lauren's guide in my head to answer the question correctly. It is equipped with charts and diagrams to facilitate easy learning and visualization of the material. Lauren has been diligent and committed to ensuring that all necessary information is included in this guide and that there are no mistakes (unlike other OMM materials like Savarese). I honestly cannot say enough good things about this study resource and recommend it highly to everyone. This guide is an absolute MUST and completely essential for every osteopathic medical student preparing for COMLEX exams.

Concise, easy to reference, well-structured, ideal for COMLEX prep

Currently OMS-II, this guide has facilitated an effective study style throughout my OMM coursework. Using this "high-yield" guide, I feel confident going into board preparation for the OMM component of COMLEX Level 1 for the following reasons:
1. It is concise and ideal for reference alongside your required OMM textbooks, i.e. Foundations of Osteopathic Medicine (Chila), Atlas of Osteopathic Techniques (Nicholas).
2. It is particularly useful when in lab. The section on counterstrain is formatted to include the most important techniques on a few pages, to give an example. This helped convert a daunting set of information into a manageable set of tasks.
3. It will structure my board prep for Step 1 because it includes the tested topics, allowing space for annotation for future studies and practice questions. Having a list of topics lets me highlight areas of strength/weakness accordingly when reviewed.

They focus on understanding as the cognitive state that is a goal of explanation and on the understanding of theories and models as a means to this end.

The chapters in this book highlight the multifaceted nature of the process of scientific research. The contributors examine current uses of theory, models, simulations, and experiments to evaluate the degree to which these elements contribute to understanding. Their analyses pay due attention to the roles of intelligibility, tacit knowledge, and feelings of understanding. Furthermore, they investigate how understanding is obtained within diverse scientific disciplines and examine how the acquisition of understanding depends on specific contexts, the objects of study, and the stated aims of research.

Henk de Regt is a philosophy lecturer at VU University Amsterdam. He has published on the history and philosophy of science, with a focus on scientific explanation and understanding. He is co-founder of the European Philosophy of Science Association and of the Society for Philosophy of Science in Practice.

Sabina Leonelli is a research fellow of the ESRC Centre for Genomics in Society (Egenis) at the University of Exeter, UK. She investigates philosophical issues in relation to bioinformatics and model organism research in the biomedical sciences.

Kai Eigner teaches philosophy of science at VU University Amsterdam. His research focuses on scientific understanding in the behavioral and cognitive sciences.
