Martin, su novio, se lleva muy bien con sus hijas pero no con su ex mujer, que no le perdona que publicara un libro en el que contaba la relacion con Jaime. Ridiculo, brillante, divertido, impredecible, gamberro, canalla, ocurrente, temible, real, el protagonista de esta novela es el ser mas contradictorio que imaginarse pueda. Un ser caprichoso que se rie de si mismo y que no esta dispuesto a callarse por verguenza, un chico grande, famoso por su descaro: Jaime Bayly. esta es su novela mas divertida y sincera.

La MEJOR obra jamas escrita por Bayly

Pensar en "El Canalla Sentimental", puede parecerle a muchos como la historia de algun vago de buenos sentimientos o las aventuras jocosas de algun demente. La realidad es que Bayly, se expresa por primera (y esper que no unica) vez, tal y como es en persona. Me tome la libertad de ponerle titulos personales a cada mini historia porque me parece que asi se hubiera visto aun mejor. He ocupado varias frases para Twitter y a la gente le han encantado. Simplemente me he reido como pocas veces con un libro y he desubierto el lado de Bayly que me hacia falta por conocer: su amor incondicional e infinito pior sus hijas, su ex mujer, su acual pareja y todos los demas que giran a su alrededor. Me gustaria que si algn dia el mismo Bayly lee esto (lo cual creo posible dado que el mismo dice en el libro que pasa pendiente de sus obras, mas no le quitan el sue�o), tiene q saber que para mi al menos, es uno de los mejores escritores de Latinoamerica, superado unicamente por Garcia Marquez. Tengo 4 libros de Bayly y seguire comprando mas. Es una obra maestra

Muy buena lectura...

After having read many novels in Jaime Bayly's collection, there's something about his writing style that keeps me looking forward to his next novel. It has been a three year wait for this new novel, and it's somewhat of an autobiography entwined in a summary of the author's life which includes situations and episodes, family members and other significant people that have been discussed in previous novels, his TV show and in articles in his weekly newspaper column.
Jaime Bayly is not your run of the mill writer. In fact, most people either like his style or not. There's seems to be no in between. He can be categorized as narcissistic and cynical, which I think best describes his personality. He also seems to be much begrudged, not fully comfortable with his sexual identity (possibly), disappointed with life and society and feels the need to critique people and situations in his daily surroundings especially the Peruvian upper class.
Some of the highlights of this novel include getting a better feel for the author's relationship with his daughters, 'asi que no es tan canalla como se piensa'. He's a typical father and idolizes his daughters. However, his relationship with his mother-in-law is tenacious and he seems to keep the peace with his ex-wife. Martin is his partner who readers of Jaime B have learned about through his articles and possible mention via other sources, certainly not a clandestine relationship but not one he can openly discuss with his conservative family members for obvious reasons.
The novel is an easy read, somewhat of an autobiography and recount of JB's past, present and who knows what waits ahead. The novel is a thorough account of episodes and situations that occurred in his life in Lima, Miami and Buenos Aires. The novel is best described as well-written, easy reading, worth it for those who like Jaime Bayly's literature. I enjoyed this one along with Fue ayer y no me acuerdo, La mujer de mi hermano, and Y de repente un angel.
